2018 Kingston Offshore Fishing Competition
Competitors travelled from far and wide to enter into the 18th Annual Kingston Offshore Fishing Comp held at Easter in Kingston SE.
81 boats entered in to the competition, some new to the competition however, there were a lot of familiar faces, with some in their 10th year and more of fishing in the competition.
Harry Lyon, President of this year’s competition thanked the prize and event sponsors for their ongoing generosity and to the committee and volunteers prior and during the event, in particular Craig & Kylie Lewis for all of their efforts over the past 18 years to make the competition what it is today. He also thanked the competitors for supporting the event. Again this year $5 from each entry was donated to the Trent Rothall Support Fund Trust, totalling $405.
Perfect weather conditions made for a cracker weekend of fishing, with some great catches recorded. Overall winners of the ‘Outstanding Catch’ trophy was local boat ‘Wrighty O’, skippered by Kevin Wright, who caught 115% of the last 3 years average of Whiting. Other winners in the competition categories and raffles walked away again with some very impressive prizes of rods, reels, fishing accessories and tackle, vouchers, beer and wine and camping equipment.
